For Indian forest services officers posts UPSC conducts the IFS exam every year. The examination is generally conducted in the month of July. Indian Forest Service was established for the safety and restoration of forest resources in the year of 1966. The purpose of Indian Forest Services is maintaining environmental balance.
Before appearing for the exam, candidate must know the eligibility conditions. Eligibility criteria for the IFS exam is given below:
Nationality: Candidate must be either a citizen of India, otherwise a subject of Bhutan, or a subject of Nepal.
•A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Shrilanka, Pakistan, Uganda, Burma, the united republic of Tanzania, Ethiopia, Malawi and Vietnam with the purpose of settling in India permanently.
Education Criteria: To appear for the exam candidate must hold a bachelor’s degree. Degree could be with one of the following subjects:
•Veterinary Science
•Animal Husbandry
•Chemistry
•Physics
•Mathematics
•Botany
•Geology
•Zoology
Or Bachelors degree in Forestry, Agriculture as well as Engineering from any Universities integrated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India. You are also eligible if you have pursued your degree from other education institutions which satisfy the an Act of Parliament. Also candidate from deemed Universities Under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956 can apply for the exam. However other equivalent education also be considered.
