Introduction of Assistants Grade Exam
SSC (Staff Selection Commission) conducts the Assistant Grade Examination. Staff Selection commission was previously known as Services Selection Commission. After giving this examination you are eligible for recruitment in Class III and IV categories of staff in the central and state management cadre.
The Assistant Grade Examination is conducted by the SSC board for the recruitment of following posts:
•Assistant’s Grade for the Railway Board Secretariat Service.
•Assistant’s Grade for the Armed Forces Headquarters civil Service
•Grade II for cipher Assistant of the cipher cadre of the Indian foreign service branch
•Grade IV assistant for the general cadre of the Indian Foreign Services
Eligibility for Assistants Grade examination:
•Examiner must have attained age between 20-25 years and he should have completed age 25 in 1st August of the last year.
•Eligibility for other backward classes, scheduled castes, scheduled tribes is the maximum age limit is 25 years but it can be comprehensive.
•Candidate must have Degree. Degree has to be completed from recognized university or comparable institutions.
SSC Assistants Grade Examination Selection Procedure
For selection the examination is separated into two stages:
•Preliminary Written Examination
•Main Written Examination
Preliminary Written Examination: Selection for the main exam is the purpose of the preliminary written examination. Preliminary exam includes following subjects and the duration of the exam is 3hrs for 300 marks:
•General Awareness
•Ability
•Arithmetic
•And language paper English or Hindi.
The Main Written Examination: For the main written examination only those candidates can apply who have been short listed thorough preliminary written exam. Main written exam consist of Language conception which includes following papers:
Paper I:
•General English
•Communication or writing skill
Paper II: Arithmetic
General English paper is compulsory and is of 50 marks. Also it is compulsory or we can qualifying paper and marks obtained from it are counted during the selection procedure. Communication or Writing Skill paper and Arithmetic paper are for 150 and 100 marks respectively. However these two papers are evaluated only if you are qualified in the General English paper. Duration of main written examination is 5hrs.
